To uphold the rich democratic tradition of our country and the sanctity of free and fair “Lok Sabha Election 2019”,  Nalbari Election District  conducted a more inclusive and voter friendly, transparent, robust and ethical “Lok Sabha Election 2019”.   Besides, adhering to the guidelines and instructions from Election Commission of India in toto, many innovative plans were  carried out to cater to the different needs of voters and polling personnel

 

Though there is no single parliamentary constituency in Nalbari Election District,   Nalbari conducted parliamentary election in three different HPCs viz. 8- Mangaldoi (59-Nalbari LAC), 7-Gauhati (60-Barkhetry LAC), and 6-Barpeta (61- Dharmapur LAC). Nalbari Election District left  no stone unturned to conduct the election in a smooth manner. Besides an adequate security coverage , the  endeavour was to make “Lok Sabha Election 2019” - an occasion of celebration of the democratic rights of the people ensuring “No voter to be left behind

Folk - cultural rally promotes Voters’ education in Nalbari

As a part of the unique and innovative approach being initiated by the Nalbari District Administration to promote voters awareness in the district, district administration of Nalbari arranged  folk-cultural rallies. The rallies were marked by multi-diverse folk culture of the district and witnessed participation of two hundred folk artists and equal number of public and election officials.   The folk cultural troupes like dhuliya, ojha paali, puppetry, naam party, biya naam, Mohoho etc promoted awareness amongst the voters and brought to town into a festive gear for the ensuing   Lok Sabha election.It deserves mention that these different folk-cultural troupes showed their performances in the various parts of the district to generate voters’ awareness under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme.

 

 

Deputy Commissioner of Nalbari Bharat Bhusan Dev Choudhury wrote personal letters to each and every household of the election district requesting them to cast their votes. Also hands-on trial for the public on EVM and VVPAT was carried out in every polling station as part of the SVEEP. The district administration has made special arrangements for all the 27 Centenarian voters so that they can easily cast their valuable votes for a healthy democracy in the country. Along with these centenarians, all PWD voters were provided special facilities like wheelchairs and vehicles on polling days to help the voters reach their booths. 

 

Further, unique Model Polling Stations in every assembly segment with all amenities for voters attracted attention of the all the people. Special Quick Response Team during the poll day also did their jobs in an excellent manner.  The refreshment cell provided exotic menus with ethnic touch in every occasion of the Election Process.
